Burin Peninsula Health Care Foundation
Burin Peninsula Health Care Foundation
Our mission is to complement traditional funding sources and enhance local healthcare services on the Burin Peninsula - supporting local hospitals, clinics, patients and families living in remote and rural communities within the region.
Incorporated in 1991, the Burin Peninsula Health Care Foundation is a philanthropic partner of NL Health Services. The Burin Peninsula, affectionately known as “the boot”, is the southernmost tip of the island of Newfoundland and is home to approximately 20,000 residents scattered throughout our many beautiful and scenic coastal communities.
Within our region are six community-based healthcare centers, including: Burin Peninsula Health Care Center (Burin); US Memorial Long-Term Care Facility (St. Lawrence); Blue Crest Nursing Home (Grand Bank); Dr. S. Beckley Healthcare Center (Grand Bank); Marystown Community Health Building (Marystown); Placentia West Medical Clinic (Boat Harbour).
Donations to the BPHCF allow us to enhance the quality of care for our patients, families and healthcare workers within each of our facilities, across a broad range of sectors and programs, including: Cancer Care, Mental Health & Addictions, Medical Transportation Assistance, Women's Health, Rehabilitation, Pregnancy & Infant Loss, Palliative Care, and Pediatrics.
The Burin Peninsula Health Care Center is the Regional Health Care Center for the peninsula. Services include: Blood Collection, Dialysis, Laboratory Services, Medical Imaging, X-Ray, Surgery, Outpatient Clinics, Emergency Department and Inpatient Services
The U.S. Memorial Hospital opened its doors on June 6, 1954, as a result of a donation to the Town of St. Lawrence from the United States government. The donation was in honor of the heroes of St. Lawrence and Lawn, in response to the Truxton and Pollux disaster.
The current U.S. Memorial Facility opened in 1994, and includes Family Practice Clinic, Urgent Care Services, Medical Imaging, Laboratory Services and Blood Collection. The facility is also home to 40 long-term care residents.
Blue Crest Nursing Home is a long-term care facility operated by Eastern Health for level 3 and 4 residents. This facility, located in Grand Bank, is home to approximately 60 long-term care residents.
Located in Grand Bank, services at the Dr. S. Beckley Health Care Center include: Continuing Care, Public Health, Community Health, Medical Imaging, Laboratory Services, and Emergency Department.
